Today was a birthday party for one of my sons friends and like many, it was at the roller rink. I can not help but remember countless weekends at Skateland (if I am remembering the name correctly) in Charleston WV. So many great times there. Some things never change.

All roller rinks are covered with a shag type carpet from the late 70's or early 80's... and its still the same carpet because it is glued to everything... the walls, the tables, the benches. Everthing.

The music is only slightly updated. I kid you not, I heard at lest 3 songs from "way back when" today. Of course now they play it becasue someones mom went and requested it.

The food... yeah nough said. Anyone remember what an "Around the World" is?

The smells... yep it still smells the same. Sweat, dirt. old pizza and Coke with a tinge of looker room.

Ihope his memories of his roller rink are as found as mine are ;)
